Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy is on the lookout for a new club as he prepares to leave Cremonese after one season in Italy.
Leicester City are set for a massive summer as they look to build a squad that can win promotion from League One following their embarrassing relegation.
The Foxes’ demise over the years has been rapid, with the club having gone from winning the league, the FA Cup and competing in Europe, to the third tier of English football.
So, it will be a long journey back for Leicester, and the immediate priority is to appoint a new head coach. Then, attention will turn to reshaping the squad, and it’s clear a lot of work needs doing, both in terms of outgoings and incomings.

One criticism from the fans towards the players has been a lack of commitment, and question marks over whether several individuals really care.
Therefore, adding strong characters to the dressing room is another priority for the next Leicester chief.
Jamie Vardy is one player who would change the mentality of the group in a positive way, and the former striker has shown with Cremonese in Serie A that he is still capable of scoring goals.
However, their relegation from the top flight means Vardy is set to leave when his contract expires, and he has been linked with Feyenoord and boyhood club Sheffield Wednesday.
Yet, given his connection with Leicester, and their need for attacking reinforcements, it’s seen as a surprise that they aren’t pushing hard to bring the man many consider to be their best ever player back to the King Power Stadium.
But, when asked by FLW whether it’s a move the club should pursue, Leicester fan pundit Jamie Thorpe admitted he expects Vardy to join Sheffield Wednesday, as he suggested it’s not always right to go back.
“To be honest, I don’t think he should have left for Cremonese last year, I think he should’ve given it one more go. On the other hand, I don’t think you should go back,” Jamie said.
“I know Nigel Pearson came back and did well, but for Vardy it’s a different kettle of fish. I think he’ll go to Sheffield Wednesday. He’s a boyhood fan, and it’s one last hurrah. I know it will be difficult for him to play against Leicester, but I just can’t see the GOAT coming back.
“200 goals in 500 games, would he want to harm his reputation? I don’t know. But I think he’s more likely to go to Sheffield Wednesday.”
Given Vardy’s history with Leicester, it would be a surprise if there weren’t some talks over his future, but, ultimately, he will have the final say.
Some will feel it would be great to have someone like him when the club needs to get back on track, whereas others will share the view that his story at Leicester is already over.

Either way, it seems apparent that the Foxes need to target players like Vardy, in terms of his application, desire and will to win, not just quality.
When he joined the club from non-league Fleetwood, he was determined and hungry to prove himself, and, in recent years, it has felt like Leicester have too many players who don’t care.
Perhaps the only positive of relegation to League One is that it will help Leicester with a big reset, and there needs to be focus on bringing players through from the academy, and finding players who are desperate to do well for the club.
It remains to be seen whether Vardy does join, but his performances in Serie A suggest he could still do a good job for Leicester in League One, so this may be one to watch.
