Leonardo Jardim says Flamengo have squad needs but spending will depend on the budget, with a number nine the main target.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the World Cup pause has sharpened recruitment focus, with a left-back also on the agenda.
Jardim stressed that investment must be targeted, aiming to add quality rather than make changes for the sake of it. He said the first step is knowing how much there is to invest.
The striker sought would compete with Pedro, with a more mobile profile that attacks space. Previous pursuits of Kaio Jorge and Taty Castellanos did not progress.
He said the creative load falls mainly on Arrascaeta, and at times Carrascal, so a different option there could help. José Boto is handling that and roles will be reviewed position by position.
One left-back option is Kaiki Bruno of Cruzeiro, and a midfielder could also be added. The second transfer window runs from 20 July to 11 September. There is movement to renew with Alex Sandro, and the plan is to negotiate Ayrton Lucas’s departure and sign a replacement for the number six.
