Jarell Quansah draws comparisons between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen | OneFootball

Bayer Leverkusen smashed their club record transfer to sign Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah. Upon signing for his new club, the 22-year-old drew comparisons between the two teams.

“I come from a team that needs to win all the time and I feel that the club has got the same identity,” Quansah told the club’s official channels.

“I think that the fans are going to expect us to win most games and for me to be able to implement that and implement my desire to win is going to be key.”

Quansah played alongside Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté during his time at Liverpool since making his Premier League debut against Newcastle United under Jürgen Klopp in August 2023.

“Everyone at Liverpool who taught me and helped me through the years as a young boy really, I can’t be thankful enough for them,” added Quansah.

“Being able to learn from some of the best players in the world is a true honour.

“Being able to do it yourself and trying to find your own identity and how you want to play football and also lead teams as well. I think it’s going to be big for me in the future and hopefully here I can sort of learn that and perform as well.”

Quansah has signed a five-year deal with Bayer Leverkusen, who brought the UEFA U21 European champion to the club for a record €35m.
