Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jarell Quansah has been ruled out of England’s World Cup round of 32 meeting with DR Congo.

According to BuLi News, the defender twisted his ankle during England’s final group-stage victory over Panama and will miss the game.

Quansah was an unused substitute in the first two group matches against Croatia and Ghana, then started and played 63 minutes in the win over Panama.

Chelsea’s Reece James is also set to sit out the match due to a hamstring injury.

England versus DR Congo is scheduled to kick off at 18:00 CEST on Wednesday.
