It was a real “Jekyll and Hyde” substitute appearance from Federico Dimarco in yesterday’s Serie A clash between Bologna and Inter Milan.
This is the view in Italian outlet FCInter1908. They note that the 27-year-old had an attacking impact, but was a weak link defensively after coming on.
It seemed clear enough what Inter coach Simone Inzaghi was intending when he put Federico Dimarco on against Bologna.
The Nerazzurri had lacked attacking fluency prior to Dimarco’s introduction to the pitch.
Therefore, Inzaghi was looking to give the team more of a creative spark in the final third.

And Federico Dimarco did almost immediately make Inter’s attack look more incisive.
However, there is a sense that the Italian international does not quite have the defensive solidity that Carlos Augusto does.
And that was very much on show in the decisive moment of yesterday’s match.
Dimarco failed to react to a darting run by Bologna winger Riccardo Orsolini.
And when the ball broke to Orsolini, the 28-year-old was in plenty of space to shape himself for a spectacular overhead kick.
In the end, Dimarco shifted the balance for Inter – but it was in the wrong penalty area.
