Jens Stage continues to deliver for Werder Bremen, his first half strike at VfB Stuttgart secured a draw and a vital point in the survival fight. According to BuLi News, the Dane has been among the league’s standout midfielders this season.

He played a one-two with his wing-back before finding the bottom corner, though Bremen later conceded. It followed his Nordderby brace that brought a fine win, leaving Werder all but safe.

Sunday’s strike was his 10th of the campaign, an outstanding haul for a midfielder. He has double the tally of Justin Njinmah on five, and Bremen have 36 goals across 31 games, underlining his value.

He does not take penalties, yet a Bundesliga effective shooting graphic had Harry Kane top, RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande second and Stage third, with nine goals from 4.97 xG before Stuttgart. His finish in Stuttgart carried an xG of 0.06.

Stage is happy at the Weserstadion and under contract for two more years, and he has worn the armband in Marco Friedl’s absence. Werder are planning another push for Europe under Daniel Thioune, and an expected Karim Coulibaly sale for upwards of 50 million Euros could provide funds.

Even so, richer clubs with European football may call, and at 29 a move might appeal. If Bremen cannot promise quick progress, a bid around 20 million could be enough. For now, the Green-Whites can enjoy near-certain safety and Stage’s goals for the run-in.
