Jérôme Boateng returns to Bayern Munich

Former German defender Jérôme Boateng is set for a return to Bayern Munich, but not as a player. The 37-year-old, who officially ended his playing career last September, is about to embark on a new journey in the world of coaching.

In an interview with Bild, Boateng revealed that he will join Vincent Kompany's staff for an internship at the Bavarian club.

I’ll soon be back at Bayern for an internship with Kompany. We’ve already discussed it. We just need to settle on the right date.

Having played for Bayern from 2011 to 2021, Boateng won nine Bundesliga titles and two Champions League trophies. After less successful spells at Lyon, Salernitana, and LASK, he is now preparing to share his wealth of experience in a new role as an aspiring coach.
