Jesús Areso delivers self-critique after tough season at Athletic | OneFootball

Jesús Areso has offered a candid self-assessment after a demanding campaign, saying he fell short individually and that the team suffered. According to El Correo, the Athletic defender described the season as tough.

The right back from Cascante joined last summer after Athletic paid Osasuna 12 million euros.

Across the campaign he lost the automatic starter status he had on arrival, spending many matches coming off the bench. He returned to the starting XI against Espanyol in mid May.

Before that appearance, his previous start had been on 28 February in the league meeting with Rayo Vallecano.

He heads into the summer break eager to switch off and enjoy time with his family, yet says he will not lose sight of the future, approaching it with hunger and ambition.

Areso also thanked those who show him daily support and continue to stand with him.
