João Félix has started training with Al Nassr, even though the Saudi side haven’t officially confirmed his signing yet.
Footage circulating on social media shows the Portuguese forward taking part in pre-season sessions alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr’s training camp in Austria, a clear sign that he’s already being integrated into the squad ahead of a formal unveiling.
Reports suggest Chelsea and Al Nassr have reached an agreement after drawn-out negotiations. The initial transfer fee is said to be around €30 million (£26.2m), with further performance-based bonuses and clauses potentially taking the full value of the deal to €50 million (£43.7m).
A sell-on clause is also included, meaning Chelsea will pocket a percentage of any future sale, helping them recoup most of the £45 million they paid Atletico Madrid last summer.
The 25-year-old is expected to sign a two-year contract, keeping him at the Riyadh-based club until June 2027. He’ll join up with his Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, with Al Nassr hopeful the duo can form one of the most exciting attacking partnerships in the Saudi Pro League.
The Saudi club acted quickly to beat Benfica to his signature, submitting a formal offer to both Chelsea and the player. Talks advanced rapidly over the weekend, and the transfer is now close to being finalised, pending a routine medical.
Chelsea, who recently lifted the Club World Cup, have been busy clearing space in their squad, with Djordje Petrovic, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Noni Madueke all sold this summer as part of their efforts to meet financial regulations.
