João Paulo set to undergo Bahia tests before Santos return

João Paulo is expected to undergo medical tests at Bahia before rejoining Santos, with Bahia not taking up a purchase.
According to Diario Do Peixe, City Group require end of loan medicals and his Bahia deal expires on the 30th.
He had already bid farewell to the Alvinegro on social media and at CT Rei Pelé. He did not feature in 2025, then this year played six Baiano matches and two Série A games. His Santos contract runs to the end of 2027.
Santos plan to sell Gabriel Brazão and see João Paulo as another experienced option. Goalkeeper coach Arzul trusts Diógenes, Rodrigo Falcão and under-20 João Pedro, yet has approved João Paulo’s return and backs him. Brazão, who lost his father a month ago, wants to stay but accepts a move could help the club.
João Paulo also held talks with Botafogo and Corinthians. Santos did not consider Botafogo due to monies owed, and Corinthians did not attract the keeper out of respect for his Santos history.
A Santos academy graduate, he debuted in a 0-0 with Vasco in 2017, became first choice in August 2020 after issues with Everson and an injury to Vladimir, underwent left Achilles surgery after a 2-1 loss to América-MG on 24 May, later returned, and has 237 appearances.
