Although England manager Eddie Howe had hoped to secure the services of the 23-year-old, the player has recently opted to join Chelsea rather than don the black and white shirt and play for the Magpies at St James' Park.
It wasn't the first deal that Chelsea managed to snatch from the hands of Newcastle United. Liam Delap was the last player that Chelsea managed to steal from Newcastle United and now Italian coach Enzo Maresca has managed to get a second deal and beat Newcastle to the Delap deal.
Newcastle United were looking to sign a striker to support Alexandre Isak up front, but after Chelsea managed to snatch two deals from Newcastle United's grasp today, it seems that Newcastle United are looking for a companion to Alexandre Issac in the Magpies' attacking line.
There was a time when St. James' Park seemed the perfect stage for his talent—a place where Eddie Howe’s meticulous coaching could have sharpened his skills and elevated his game. On Tyneside, he might have blossomed into a pivotal figure, a fan favorite, a player who could have left an indelible mark on the club’s resurgence.
Yet, destiny had other plans. Instead of the passionate roars of the Geordie faithful, he’ll now hear his name echo through the stands at Stamford Bridge. While Chelsea’s allure is undeniable, one can’t help but wonder what might have been. For Newcastle, it’s a bittersweet moment—a glimpse of a future that could have been, now slipping through their fingers.
The Premier League’s ever-shifting landscape means opportunities come and go, but this one? This one will sting for a while.
