Joe Cole on the chances of Eddie Howe’s side winning, as they take on West Ham.

The Newcastle United boss set to face the Hammers at the London Stadium with an 8pm kick-off.

Joe Cole of course started his career with West Ham and also returned there in the twilight of his career.

Joe Cole talking to Paddy Power ahead of Newcastle United facing West Ham United in the Premier League:

“West Ham are a mess, their transfer business has not been good.

“The decision to sell Mohammed Kudus was remarkable and the players they’ve brought in are just not what they need.

“I can see a Newcastle win here, unfortunately for me, 2-1.

“In terms of a goal scorer the big man’s been great since he’s come in.

“He scored again during the week, he’s so difficult to deal with, so it’s got to be Nick Woltemade to score.”

My thoughts

For the Spurs match on Wednesday, ahead of that we saw Joe Cole make three predictions.

He got two of the three correct.

Joe Cole forecast Newcastle to get through to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals and Sandro Tonali to return to the starting eleven and be a major influence. Tonali was MOTM as Newcastle won 2-0, though Joe Cole’s forecast of a consolation goal for Spurs was off target.

Eddie Howe’s victory on Wednesday was even more impressive when you consider he made eight changes as he rotated his team/squad.

Nick Woltemade was one of only three players to retain his place and he made it five scoring games in his last seven Newcastle United matches.

Joe Cole has made two big predictions for today and I fancy both will prove correct, against the West Ham team that he supports.

Big Nick scoring and Newcastle winning, looks very much the way things can go today.

Eddie Howe of course will not be taking anything for granted and will have his players wound up to go out from the start and seize control of this match.

West Ham though do look a total mess and having lost all four home Premier League matches and conceding 12 goals in this quartet of games at the London Stadium, Newcastle know that if they play well then there will surely be only one outcome. The last West Ham game at home saw Brentford completely dominate and the Hammers lucky it was only 2-0, not a five or six goal margin.

A great opportunity for Newcastle to make it six wins in their last seven matches in all competitions and just a case now of grasping this opportunity.
