The winger has been out for two months with a hamstring injury.
Portsmouth winger Callum Lang is back training with the first-team following a long spell out of action due to a hamstring injury, but manager John Mousinho isn't confident of his chances of playing again this season.
Before Lang went down with his muscular problem two months ago, in Pompey's win over Oxford United, he was one of their most.
Despite his lengthy spell on the sidelines, the 26-year-old is still the club's top scorer this season with 10 goals - four of those did come in one match against Coventry City just before Christmas.
At that time went Lang went down against Oxford, Portsmouth had a seven-point gap to the bottom three. That cushion is slightly smaller now, though, with just four points being the difference between them and Cardiff City in 22nd position.
Lang's return to training should hopefully give the players and staff a bit of a boost, with a trip to Norwich City and a visit from Watford on the agenda over the Easter weekend, but the winger's chances of making an impact on the run-in on the pitch are very slim.
It comes as no shock to Mousinho that Lang is doing all he can to be fit in time for the end of the campaign. He told The News: "He’s been training now for the past couple of days, but is a bit further behind Shaughs (Connor Shaughnessy) and Rob (Atkinson).
"The other issue we have with Langy, though, is he’s all-action and 100 per cent all of the time. That’s compared to centre-backs, speaking from experience, who can turn up sometimes and work their way through games. I don’t think Callum has the ability to do that. In fact I know he hasn’t, so we have to be a bit more careful with him.
"So we’ll see where he is, probably at the back end of next week, but I’m very doubtful we’ll see him again this season. It’s not entirely out of the question, but I’m 99.9 per cent sure.
"It’s protecting Langy from himself," continued Mousinho. "But also we need to look at it and ask, do we have a fully fit player coming back on to the football pitch? As much as Cal wants to come back and play, we just have to be really careful with it.
"We’ve spoken about how we got Rob back in quicker than anticipated. We started thinking about that off the back of the Millwall game and after Coventry. We thought if we had half a chance of getting him back we’d push him back. We’ll see what that’s like with all of the injuries."
There's enough quality in this Portsmouth side that they should fancy their chances of staying up, even without Lang. Colby Bishop up front and Josh Murphy on the wing will always be attacking threats; it's keeping the goals out that will be more of a worry for the boss.
His team have only kept four clean sheets since the start of February. If they can fix those issues for the final four games of the season, and combine them with their options in forward areas, picking up points shouldn't be too much of an issue in these last few weeks of the campaign.
