Mikel warns Liam Rosenior he must win over three Chelsea players

Chelsea have reportedly told Rosenior Champions League qualification is “critical,” and with the Blues currently sitting eighth in the league he faces a tough task.

Rosenior will know he’s got a huge job on his hands, and he’s got no option but to hit the ground running with the games coming thick and fast for the remainder of the month.

Rosenior took his first training session on Thursday.

He will take charge of his first game against Charlton on Saturday in the FA Cup, before his first game at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday against Arsenal in the semi finals of the Carabao Cup.

Rosenior is reportedly happy with the current Chelsea squad, but Mikel has warned he could face the sack if he doesn’t win over three players.

“How does Liam Rosenior manage this squad to not lose the dressing room, to not lose the likes of Cole Palmer, the likes of Enzo Fernandez, the likes of Caicedo? he told The Obi One Podcast.

“These are your spine. You need that spine to be happy with you. You need to drag them along with you.

“And if he doesn’t manage to do that, he’s going to lose that dressing room, and it’s all going to end before you know it.”

Groin injury still troubling Cole Palmer

Mikel is right in the sense he needs those key players on board, and one of Rosenior’s biggest tasks is to get Cole Palmer back to his best.

Palmer has been plagued by a groin injury over the first half of the season, and returned to action against Leeds in December.

The 23-year-old has scored twice since returning from injury, but his performances have been nowhere near the level he’s capable of.

It’s been reported the groin injury which sidelined Palmer for three months is still causing him issues, and it will be interesting to see how Rosenior manages him.
