Real Sociedad have tied down Jon Martín until 2032, with the 20-year-old reinstated as the longest contracted txuri-urdin.

According to Diario Vasco, the Lasarte-Oria centre-back signed on Thursday, extending a deal first renewed last October to 2031 through to the end of 2031/32. Having broken into the defence at 20, he has already made 50 first-team appearances. Team-mate Ibai Aguirre recently extended his deal to 2031.

Martín said he is happy to stay at home and described Real as the club that has given him everything, having been there since he was 12. He thanked the club for the opportunities and trust shown since his youth and said he wants to repay it.

It appears the new contract will come with a first-team squad number. He has been wearing 31 due to a B team registration despite featuring for the seniors. Asked this week about taking the number 6 vacated by Aritz Elustondo, he said it would be a great joy but not his decision.

He acknowledged it is not easy to reach the first team so young. He reflected on a very good year in which Real won a trophy and said the group are eager to repeat it. While now a pillar, he added there is room to grow and that he learns from Mikel, Igor and Ander.
