Jordan James is racing to be fit for Ipswich on Saturday after a groin issue forced his withdrawal in Leicester City's 2-2 draw with Bristol City. According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, Marti Cifuentes remains hopeful the loanee can be involved as City host the promotion-chasing Tractor Boys.
James reported discomfort at half-time, returned for the restart to test it, then came off before the hour.
With Aaron Ramsey and Boubakary Soumare sidelined, and Harry Winks seemingly not being considered, City are light in midfield.
After James departed, Bobby De Cordova-Reid dropped into the box-to-box role and Jordan Ayew operated as the number 10. Later, Hamza Choudhury replaced De Cordova-Reid, Bade Aluko came on at right-back, and Louis Page saw late midfield minutes.
Cifuentes stressed the need to keep players available with another game in just over 48 hours and hopes James will make it. He said Winks would be available for selection for Saturday, though the response was unconvincing, so the England midfielder may be left out for a third straight match. Ramsey is nearing a return from an October hamstring problem but is not due back yet, while the club were awaiting feedback on Soumare’s knee earlier in the week.
