Barcelona legend Jordi Alba has renewed his contract with Inter Miami until 2027, committing to the club until the age of 38.
During events marking the extension on Friday, the former Barcelona defender was asked about his old club’s season and took the opportunity to congratulate the team managed by Hansi Flick as they completed a domestic treble.
“I want to congratulate Barça. I think they have had a great season, with a coach I don’t know personally, but from what people say about him and what we see, he manages the players wonderfully and the team is very well organised,” said the left-back.
Two years after leaving the club, Alba expressed his happiness at seeing Barça continue to win titles.
“It’s a young team and I’m very happy for them, because I know a lot of people there, not only the players, but also the coaching staff and the club’s personnel,” Alba noted.
“In the end, it’s fantastic to see a club like Barcelona, which I love so much, continue to win titles.”

Alba also spoke about Lamine Yamal, who has developed significantly since debuting with the first team and is now one of the best players in the world at the age of only 17.
“He made his debut with us with Barcelona and I think he was 15 years old. He already looked like a different kind of player, but the physical change he’s made over the last two years has made him a standout player,” said Alba.
“It’s amazing what he’s doing. He is among the candidates to win the Ballon d’Or,” he added.
Concluding, Alba had a piece of advice for Lamine, as he said: “Let him continue like this, improving, learning and listening to people who understand the game. I hope he does great. It’s great to see him play.”
