José Luis Chilavert has posted a racist message on X aimed at France after comments from Christophe Dugarry, with the sides due to meet in the World Cup last 16 in Philadelphia on Saturday at 23:00.
According to L'Équipe, the former Paraguay and Strasbourg goalkeeper, 60, reacted after Dugarry predicted Paraguay would take a hiding and criticised their attacking play.
In his reply, Chilavert referenced their 1998 World Cup meeting with France and said Paraguay would now face an African selection.
Chilavert has a record of similar outbursts. In February he directed racist and homophobic attacks at Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappé, and claimed the France forward lives with a transgender person.
He also said football is a playground reserved for men, adding that since the arrival of microphones and cameras the sport has become effeminate.
