José Mourinho leaned on Benfica’s academy in the final training session before Real Madrid, bringing a sizeable group of youngsters from Seixal into the workout at the club’s training base. Among them were Portugal’s under-17 world champions.

According to Glorioso 1904, the 63-year-old worked with a near full-strength group and closely watched five prospects, Voitnovicius, Daniel Banjaqui, José Neto, Rodrigo Rêgo and Anísio Cabral.

The 17-year-old forward’s involvement is significant as he appears on Benfica’s Champions League List B, which could see Anísio Cabral included in the matchday squad.

Alexander Bah, Samuel Soares, Nuno Félix, Dodi Lukebakio and Joshua Wynder were also on the pitch, though only for tailored recovery work with an eye on returning to competition. Richard Ríos and João Veloso remain in the medical department.

Mourinho is due to speak at Benfica Campus at 14:00, alongside a player, to preview the clash. The meeting with Real Madrid is set for Wednesday, 28 January, with Italian official Davide Massa appointed to referee.
