José Mourinho is understood to have finalised his plan for Benfica’s visit to Casa Pia in Rio Maior, a round 28 league fixture, with Leandro Barreiro set to be named among the substitutes to avoid any setback. Record reports that the Luxembourg international will travel as part of the squad.

Barreiro has been a doubt since returning from national team duty and had complained of discomfort. He only worked on the pitch on Saturday, four April, two days before the game.

With Barreiro likely to start on the bench, Mourinho’s plan points to Richard Ríos and Enzo Barrenechea starting. In the previous outing against Vitória de Guimarães, Ríos partnered Barreiro in midfield, while Barrenechea covered for Nicolás Otamendi in defence.

Tomás Araújo has suffered a muscular injury and will miss this match and the home game against Nacional. His availability for the derby with Sporting on Sunday, 19 April, is in doubt.

This season Barreiro, valued at 15 million euros, has made 44 appearances for Benfica, 25 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 13 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 2,491 minutes he has four goals and five assists.
