José Mourinho to return to Real Madrid after 15 million euros clause paid | OneFootball

Real Madrid have paid the 15 million euros clause in José Mourinho’s Benfica contract to appoint him as head coach, and the Portuguese is already in Madrid awaiting final details before his presentation.

Benfica said in a post that Madrid had formalised their intention to hire Mourinho for 15 million euros, and also bid him farewell with a thank you message.

Newly re-elected president Florentino Pérez confirmed Mourinho’s return and said it was a source of pride to welcome back one of the world’s best coaches.

This will be Mourinho’s second spell at the club. He led Madrid from 2010 to 2013, taking charge of 178 competitive matches with 128 wins, 28 draws and 22 defeats.

During that period he won three trophies, LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de España.
