Liverpool Receive Formal Bid from Al-Hilal for Darwin Nunez

Al-Hilal have submitted a formal offer to Liverpool for Darwin Nunez, as the Saudi Pro League club intensify their efforts to bring the Uruguayan international to Riyadh this summer.

The 26-year-old striker has attracted interest from several clubs during the current transfer window, but Al-Hilal appear to be the first to move with a concrete bid. According to a report from Al-Riyadiya, the Saudi side have sent an official proposal to Anfield, identifying Nunez as the top target of their head coach, Simone Inzaghi.

“Al-Hilal has sent an official offer to the management of the English club Liverpool to purchase the contract of the striker Nunez, who is currently the top choice for the coach Inzaghi,” the journalist wrote on X.

Liverpool Set Asking Price as Exit Nears

Liverpool are reportedly holding firm in their valuation of Nunez, with sources indicating the club are seeking around £50million for the former Benfica forward. Having signed Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt earlier this summer for £69million, Arne Slot’s side are in a strong negotiating position and are under no pressure to sell unless their valuation is met.

Slot, who led Liverpool to a Premier League title in his debut season, is believed to be open to squad changes this window as he reshapes his attacking options. The potential arrival of another forward, with Alexander Isak of Newcastle United still on the club’s radar, suggests that Nunez’s time at Anfield could soon be coming to an end.

Nunez Faces Uncertain Future at Anfield

Darwin Nunez has had a turbulent spell since arriving at Liverpool in 2022, scoring goals in bursts but struggling for consistent form. Under Slot’s system, Ekitike is seen as a better fit for the tactical style the Dutchman is implementing, further reducing Nunez’s prospects of regular starts in the coming campaign.

While there has been no official response yet from Liverpool regarding Al-Hilal’s bid, talks are expected to progress in the coming days. The player himself has yet to speak publicly on the situation, though his future appears increasingly likely to lie away from Merseyside.

Saudi Pro League’s Ambition Continues

Should Al-Hilal succeed in securing Nunez’s signature, it would represent another high-profile addition to a growing list of European stars making the move to Saudi Arabia. The club have already strengthened significantly this summer and view Nunez as a key piece in their continued domestic and continental ambitions.

Liverpool, meanwhile, continue to work behind the scenes on further additions to their squad as they aim to defend their Premier League title in 2025-26.
