Liverpool Transfer News: Arne Slot’s First Signing Set to Leave the Club

There’s a cloud of uncertainty hanging over Liverpool as they head into the final stretch of the season. Head coach Arne Slot remains under immense pressure and a number of players could follow him out of the door at Anfield.

However, whilst there remains much debate around the future of Slot and most of his squad, there seems to be little debate surrounding one player. Federico Chiesa.

Since his £12m arrival from Juventus in the summer of 2024, the Italian has massively struggled for both form and fitness.

Despite having a number of crucial moments, he has only managed to accumulate 660 minutes across all competitions so far this season – averaging a goal involvement every 111 minutes.

The lack of game time hasn’t stopped him from becoming an absolute hit amongst the fanbase, but his time on Merseyside looks to be coming to an end.

Chiesa Set to Leave This Summer

According to a report from Lewis Steele for the Daily Mail, the 28-year-old is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

When discussing which players face an uncertain future at the club, Steele said: “Fringe players like Joe Gomez and Curtis Jones may not have played as much as they will have liked and Federico Chiesa will almost certainly depart.”

A number of Italian clubs are reportedly interested in signing Chiesa. The likes of Inter Milan and Napoli have both been heavily linked, whilst a shock return to former club Juventus could also be on the cards.

With two years still remaining on his deal at Anfield, Liverpool will undoubtedly be looking to recoup the £12m that they spent on the player two years ago.

Who Else Could Leave?

As well as the trio mentioned above, Steele also reported that a number of key figures could leave.

“Here is a list of key figures with unclear futures: Arne Slot, Richard Hughes, Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson. That’s the head coach, sporting director, best player of the last decade, key defender and vice-captain,” said Steele.

Last summer saw the likes of Caomhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarell Quansah, Kostas Tsimikas, Tyler Morton, Harvey Elliott, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez all leave the club, whilst £450m was spent on incomings.

At this rate, I wouldn’t be ruling out another exodus this summer.
