Lewis Steele Provides Liverpool Transfer Update Ahead of January Transfer Window

Whilst Liverpool’s form is certainly improving with the Reds now unbeaten in seven games across all competitions, there is still some concern over the depth of Arne Slot’s squad.

At centre-back, Slot has just Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate to choose from, with the latter reportedly struggling with a hamstring issue.

Summer signing Giovanni Leoni picked up an ACL injury on his debut back in September and is now expected to miss the rest of the season, whilst Joe Gomez is sidelined once again.

With that in mind, many are expecting Liverpool to consider a move for a defender in January and there’s been plenty of names mentioned.

Four Potential Candidates

According to Lewis Steele for the Daily Mail, Liverpool are ready to wait until the summer to try and capture Marc Guehi on a free transfer.

But other than him, there are four other names being mentioned.

Steele claims that his Crystal Palace teammate Maxence Lacroix is one name that has been discussed by Liverpool in the past.

The 25-year-old has become a crucial part of Oliver Glasner’s side since his £18m move from Wolfsburg last year.

Liverpool have also ‘kept an eye’ on Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez, who is expected to secure a big move away from the Belgian side soon.

Steele also pinpointed Liverpool’s interest in Celta Vigo defender Oscar Minguez, which we exclusively revealed earlier this month.

The versatile defender has just six months remaining on his current deal and could be available for a cut-price when the window opens in a few days,

And finally, Steele claimed that Brentford defender Nathan Collins has also been mentioned as a potential defensive signing. After impressing under Thomas Frank, he has become an integral part of Brentford’s early season success under new head coach Keith Andrews.
