Liverpool and Roma in Talks Over Tsimikas Transfer

Liverpool’s transfer activity continues to gather pace with just days left in the summer window, as Kostas Tsimikas emerges as one of the players likely to depart. Roma are in discussions with Liverpool over a potential deal, but there remains a major sticking point over the structure of the transfer.

Loan Proposal Rejected

Roma are interested in signing Tsimikas on a season-long loan with an option-to-buy clause, but Liverpool are holding out for a permanent sale. The Greece international has dropped down the pecking order at Anfield following the summer arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

Tsimikas was left out of the matchday squad for Monday’s dramatic victory over Newcastle United, further highlighting his uncertain future. He has attracted interest from other clubs, but according to journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos, Roma are currently leading the chase. “There is a significant gap between Liverpool’s desire for a permanent transfer and Roma’s proposal,” he said, with Tsimikas reportedly keen on a move to Serie A.

Career So Far

Signed from Olympiacos in 2020, Tsimikas quickly became a dependable squad option, providing cover for Andy Robertson. He signed a contract extension in 2023 that runs until 2027 and has made 115 appearances, contributing 18 assists. His role has been further reduced this season with Kerkez now established as first-choice left-back and Robertson serving as his deputy.

Liverpool’s Transfer Focus

Liverpool are looking to reshape their defensive options and balance the squad ahead of a busy campaign. While high-profile pursuits like Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi dominate headlines, departures such as Tsimikas’ remain a key part of the club’s strategy.

With Roma pushing for a loan and Liverpool standing firm on a sale, the next few days could prove decisive in determining whether the 28-year-old’s four-year spell at Anfield comes to an end.
