Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim took charge of his first training session at Carrington on Monday.
The Red Devils have received a major boost with Kobbie Mainoo returning to training, as confirmed by journalist Steven Railston.
Mainoo has not played since October 6 after suffering a muscle injury. He is now ‘closing in on a return to action’.
United fans are eagerly awaiting his comeback, as his presence could be a game-changer.
Amorim will make his managerial debut with United against Ipswich Town in the Premier League on November 24.
However, it is still uncertain if Mainoo will be fit enough to feature in the match against the newly-promoted side.
The midfielder has been a breath of fresh air in United’s midfield. His dynamic play and relentless drive could be the spark that the team needs.
He is set to play a vital role in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.
The Portuguese boss is known for fielding young players who can cover the pitch with great intensity.
He could partner with Manuel Ugarte, who rose to the limelight under Amorim at Sporting CP.
The 19-year-old played 35 times last season. Even though starting at the base of midfield, he chipped in with key goals against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester City.
Mainoo’s future at United looks promising, and he could be a perfect fit for their long-term project.
