Juan Sartori shared an emotional message after Sunderland clinched European football, marking a historic Europa League moment.
The Black Cats beat Chelsea at the Stadium of Light to seal qualification. As reported by Sunderland Echo, Sartori remains a key figure in the ownership alongside Kyril Louis-Dreyfus.
Régis Le Bris’ side finished seventh in the Premier League, only a year after winning promotion through the Championship play-offs. It completes a surge from League One to Europe in four years.
Sartori posted a family picture from the pitch after full-time. In a social post, he called it one of the best moments of his life and hailed Sunderland being in the Europa League.
Players, staff, supporters and members of the ownership celebrated on the turf, rounding off one of the club’s great modern nights.
Sunderland have qualified for Europe for the first time since 1973-74, ending a 53-year wait. It also marked only their fifth top-flight top-10 finish in 70 years, rewarding last summer’s ambition from the ownership.
