The Real Madrid star came through the ranks at his boyhood club, becoming the youngest player in Blues’ history, and he had established himself as a regular at 16.

It became apparent very quickly that Bellingham was destined for bigger things, which is why he had just one full season with Birmingham before some of the top clubs in Europe came calling.

Bellingham would go on to sign for Borussia Dortmund, and, after a successful few years in Germany, he joined Real Madrid, where he continued to impress, and the high point in his club career came in 2024 when the Spanish giants won the Champions League.

So, all connected to Blues are incredibly proud of Jude, along with his brother Jobe, who also came through the academy, before joining Sunderland and then following his sibling by moving to Dortmund.

And the November international break has thrown up the chance for Jobe to return to Blues, as England’s Under-21 side face Ireland’s Under-21s at St. Andrew’s on Friday night.

Therefore, boss Lee Carsley was asked about the connection of the Bellingham brothers to Birmingham, and he said he is aware of how much they ‘love the Blues’.

That message was shared by the Championship club, who along with a photo of the brothers, wrote a message saying: "Once a blue, always a blue. Forever proud of you @judebellingham x @jobebellingham."

It’s a great achievement for any Championship club to produce a player who goes on to play for their country, let alone two, particularly when you look at the talent England boast.

Yet, Birmingham have done just that, with Jude Bellingham now one of the standout players on the planet after his exploits at Real Madrid at just 22, so there is still so much more to come from him in his career, both for club and country.

Of course, whilst Jobe is carving out his own career at both club and youth international level, he is also doing great things, and it would be no surprise at all if the duo played in the same England team at some point further down the line, which would be another fantastic achievement for the family and those at Blues who played a part in their journey.

It’s clear that Jude hasn’t forgotten his roots despite his journey to the top, as he has often referenced Blues and he still follows their results.

The dream for Birmingham will be to get him back in a royal blue shirt one day before he retires, and whilst it seems highly unlikely at the moment, it’s something you wouldn’t rule out given Bellingham’s love for the club.
