The German Football Association (DFB) and Jürgen Klopp have seemingly reached a breakthrough in talks over the 59-year-old taking over as Germany head coach.

According to Sky Germany, the parties have reached an agreement in principle for Klopp to take charge of the national team until after the 2030 World Cup.

Final contract details are now being clarified, with Klopp’s departure from his current role at Red Bull expected to be finalised at the beginning of next week.

Julian Nagelsmann left the Germany job following the team’s disappointing World Cup round-of-32 exit against Paraguay.

Following Nagelsmann’s departure, the DFB confirmed plans to hold talks with Klopp over becoming his successor.
