Julián Alvarez & Ademola Lookman respond to Atlético Madrid’s Copa del Rey defeat | OneFootball

Two of the leading members of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have taken to social media, to respond to the club’s defeat to Real Sociedad.

Atlético, of course, are fresh off an evening to forget on Saturday.

Amid their ongoing pursuit of an overdue piece of silverware, the Rojiblancos locked horns with Real Sociedad in the finale of the Copa del Rey.

When all was said and done, however, Diego Simeone’s troops came up short at the final hurdle.

After battling their way through full-time and extra-time with the scoreline locked at two goals apiece, Atlético were put to the sword by four goals to three in the ensuing penalty shootout.

The collective look of utter devastation was evident across the faces of the capital outfit’s players post-match, in the knowledge that they had let slip a golden opportunity to add to the club’s trophy cabinet.

And as alluded to above, a day on, two such players have taken to social media, to send messages to the Atléti faithful.

First, on his Instagram account, Ademola Lookman wrote:

‘Kept fighting and we’ll still keep on fighting. Thank you for your unconditional support.’

This was then followed on IG by a similar message from Julián Alvarez:

‘We gave everything until the end. Thank you for the support. Let’s go for the Champions League.’
