Amidst growing speculation linking him with European giants Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, Atlético Madrid's forward Julián Álvarez has publicly addressed his future. The Argentine international has stated that his current focus is entirely on his duties with Atlético, dismissing talk of an imminent transfer.
Am I planning to play for Barcelona or PSG? Honestly, I don't know. I see what people are saying on social media. There's a lot of talk about me and Barcelona in Spain. Right now, I'm focused on Atlético, and we'll draw conclusions at the end of the season.
Julián Álvarez said.
This admission adds a new layer to the ongoing speculation, yet any club hoping to reignite those discussions faces a formidable obstacle. Álvarez is firmly tied to Atlético by a long-term contract that runs until 2030. With a market value estimated at a staggering €100 million, his release would command a monumental fee—a testament to his profound importance to the club.
"It's true, there were talks between PSG management and my agent, they showed interest, but the transfer didn't happen," Álvarez disclosed.
His value is being demonstrated weekly on the pitch. This season, the 24-year-old has been in electrifying form, contributing directly to 13 goals in just 14 appearances. A remarkable tally of nine goals and four assists underscores his status as a central figure in Atlético's attack, making his current club all the more determined to retain his services for the long haul.
