Schlotterbeck suffered the injury early after a collision. He received treatment on the pitch in the 14th minute, then continued.

Visibly hampered, he was replaced at half-time by Antonio Rüdiger.

Post-match, Nagelsmann said Schlotterbeck had an inner ligament issue and would undergo an MRI on Sunday. He added it did not look very good.

If confirmed, such an injury would end his World Cup and keep him out for an extended spell. Already through to the round of 16, Germany face Ecuador in their final group game on Thursday at 22:00.
