Jurgen Klopp has distanced himself from speculation linking him with the Germany national team job.

The former Liverpool manager has yet to publicly confirm a decision on returning to the dugout after stepping down from his Anfield post during the summer, but is widely accepted as one of the most in-demand managers on the market in the near future.

Germany sporting director Rudi Voller did not hide his interest in hiring Klopp, insisting the job is his to lose if current manager Julian Nagelsmann ever decides to take his talents back to club football.

Klopp, however, insists he wants to see Nagelsmann continue as Germany manager, stressing that he is not yet thinking about returning to work.

"Everyone hopes that Julian Nagelsmann will do this much, much longer than 2026," Klopp said as he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his work raising the country's reputation across the globe.

"I would be reluctant to talk about football today because there is nothing to say. Rudi Voller is a very nice guy. He was put in the situation where he had to talk about it."

As he approached the end of his Liverpool tenure, Klopp admitted he was leaning towards retirement, but he has previously spoken of his inability to switch off and walk away from the emotions that come with management.
