Jurgen Klopp talk cools at Real Madrid as Arbeloa earns internal backing | OneFootball

According to a report from Jose Felix Diaz in AS, the idea of Jurgen Klopp becoming the next manager of Real Madrid has been put on hold. 

This is because the club’s hierarchy has decided to give full backing and a fair opportunity to Alvaro Arbeloa after the dismissal of Xabi Alonso.

The report explains that Klopp and Real Madrid have been loosely linked for more than 13 years. 

However, those connections have largely been driven by outside speculation rather than any concrete or direct negotiations. 

Despite that, the German coach’s name has repeatedly resurfaced whenever uncertainty appears around the Bernabeu dugout.

Arbeloa was appointed following the dismissal of Alonso, with the task of stabilising the team and restoring a sense of unity. 

Early signs suggest he is succeeding, particularly in rebuilding the relationship between the dressing room and the staff.

That connection had been viewed internally as an area that needed urgent improvement, and Arbeloa’s familiarity with the club culture has played a key role.

So what now?

As so often happens at Real Madrid, speculation about future managers has never fully disappeared. 

Klopp remains a recurring presence in these conversations, as his past success with Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool makes him an attractive profile for any elite club. 

For that reason alone, his name inevitably returns whenever Real Madrid evaluate their long-term direction.

In recent weeks, speculation linking Klopp to the Spanish giants intensified once more. 

Yet, as has happened several times before, the club has decided that now is not the moment. 

The option has been placed on hold, not dismissed, but delayed. For the time being, Real Madrid believe the focus should remain on Arbeloa and the work already underway.
