Fabrizio Romano claims that Manchester United scouts attended RB Leipzig’s latest match to monitor Yan Diomande.
The Red Devils are bracing themselves for a busy summer transfer campaign, and it is widely believed that the club will aim to sign a new left winger.

Even Michael Carrick admitted that this is a role that the club could look to address. After all, the current squad lacks a genuine right-footed winger who can cut from the left side, as Matheus Cunha appears to be more comfortable playing in a central role.
In recent months, Diomande emerged as one of the top candidates on Man Utd’s shortlist. The 19-year-old joined RB Leipzig last summer, but has already earned quite a reputation in the Bundesliga.
“He’s unbelievable. When you let him get in a one-vs.-one situation, you know he’s going to win the duel,” said Diomande’s teammate, Yan Ouedraogo.
While several names have been linked with the club in recent days, it appears that the Ivorian could well be United’s preferred candidate.
MUFC’s keen interest in Diomande shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the club’s Head of Recruitment, Christopher Vivell, has strong ties in his native Germany, and he has worked at Leipzig in the past.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, United sent scouts to watch Diomande in action against Augsburg on Saturday.
The Man Utd representatives were likely impressed by what they saw, as the teenager sparked his club’s come-from-behind victory by scoring the equaliser in the 76th minute. The unfortunate Arthur Chaves then scored in his own net in the 92nd minute to gift Leipzig a 2-1 victory.
Interestingly, Diomande started the contest as a right winger, but then moved to the left side in the 61st minute when Johan Bakayoko was brought on for Antonio Nusa. Hence, he scored the goal after making a menacing run from the left wing, while leaving his marker behind him.
The Abidjan native now has 11 goals and seven assists from 27 appearances. Transfermakt estimates his value at €45 million, but he will likely command a higher fee considering the growing interest in his services.
