Juventude sign former Grêmio and Palmeiras left-back Diogo Barbosa | OneFootball

Juventude have signed 33-year-old left-back Diogo Barbosa on a contract to the end of the season.

According to Globo.com, he has already appeared on the CBF’s BID before any official announcement from the club. He joins as a free agent after departing Fortaleza.

Barbosa made only one appearance this year for Fortaleza. He arrived there in 2025 as a marquee signing and went on to play 34 times, scoring once.

A product of Vasco da Gama’s academy, he returns to Rio Grande do Sul after just over three years away. Between 2020 and 2023 he played for Grêmio, winning three Campeonato Gaúcho titles and two Recopa Gaúcha.

His career honours also include the 2018 Brasileirão and the 2020 Campeonato Paulista with Palmeiras, and the Copa do Brasil with Cruzeiro. At Fluminense he won the 2023 Conmebol Libertadores and the 2024 Recopa Sudamericana.

At Juventude he will compete for the left-back spot with Wadson, Patryck Lanza and club stalwart Alan Ruschel. The team are in a turbulent spell, following a 12-match unbeaten run with five games without a win across the Copa Sul-Sudeste and Série B.

They face the Ca-Ju derby today in the Copa Sul-Sudeste at Estádio Centenário.
