Juventus and Milan shared the points at the Allianz Stadium this evening after a 0-0 draw marked by a dramatic penalty miss from in-form Rossoneri forward Christian Pulisic.

It was a cagey affair to begin with; neither team prepared to take many risks in the early stages. A nice early run from Davide Bartesaghi down the left saw the wing-back put a good ball into the box for Fofana, who ballooned the ball over the bar.

Jonathan David continued his woes in front of goal in the first of two communication mix-ups with Weston McKennie, rising to meet a cross before heading it down at the feet of McKennie who does not have enough time to react.

The next ten minutes was slow with a lot of battles ongoing in the middle of the park before some more work out wide put another good ball in for Weston McKennie who reacted slowly in the box and gave away a free-kick for a foul on Fofana.

Juventus 0-0 Milan – Both sides threaten out wide but lack final ball quality

Both teams looked most threatening out wide, with compact defences exploited with space on the flanks.

Milan had their first good opportunity just after the twenty-minute mark, when Christian Pulisic stole possession in the midfield and surged all the way through to the Bianconeri penalty box, before losing his footing and stumbling over. A poor clearance from Juventus nearly gave Fofana a golden opportunity but the Old Lady’s defence were quick to react to the error.

David and McKennie got their wires crossed again shortly after, with another mix-up in communication seeing another great chance go begging.

Juventus continued to exploit the space out wide, with McKennie once again getting on the end of a cross but deflecting past everyone and out for a goal kick. A few minutes later, Locatelli played a superb pass through to Kalulu on the right-hand side, with the Frenchman putting the ball on a plate for Jonathan David. However, the summer signing lost his footing and slipped over.

Milan had the last good chance of the first half, when a surging run from Pavlovic on the flank saw the defender put a great ball into the box, with Santiago Gimenez heading wide from close range.

Pulisic misses penalty as Milan rue missed opportunity

Juventus started the second half strong, after a short corner taken by Conceicao sees the winger put a good ball into the box, flying past everyone to the back post where Gatti blasts the shot on the volley and Maignan pulled off a wonderful reflex save to deny the Bianconeri defender.

Milan finally had their chance to break the dead lock when Lloyd Kelly clumsily fouled Gimenez in the box in the 52nd minute. However, Christian Pulisic stepped up and blasted the ball over the bar, giving Juventus a huge let-off.

Milan took control of the game after the penalty miss, pushing hard with Luka Modric orchestrating play in the middle of the park. Juventus had flashes after the hour mark before Rafael Leao came on and nearly marked his cameo with an instant impact. The Portuguese forward saw Juventus keeper Di Gregorio off his line and attempted to lob the shot-stopper from the halfway line. The ball was struck well and the goalkeeper was left scrambling but the shot ended up just over the bar.

Subs bring no luck for Allegri and Tudor in Juventus 0-0 Milan

Both Allegri and Tudor took some rolls of the dice with their substitutions. Tudor introduced the likes of Vlahovic and Openda, whilst Allegri brought on Leao, Nkunku and Loftus-Cheek.

Juventus’ subs gave them some much needed energy but resulted in the loss of taking off their two most dangerous players on the night: Kenan Yildiz and Francisco Conceicao.

The game lost a lot of momentum in the closing stages, Tudor attempted to switch things up by bringing on Filip Kostic for Daniele Rugani but it was too little too late. Allegri’s Milan dug in to pick up a clean sheet and a valuable point on the road.

Leao had two late chances to give Milan the three points but made poor contact on both shots and was unable to break the deadlock.

However, with Pulisic’s missed penalty, Milan will be disappointed they were not able to pick up three points at the home ground of one of their fiercest rivals.
