Juventus and PSG negotiated all summer long for Randal Kolo Muani, but, in the end, he transferred to Tottenham on a simple loan with no strings attached. The player was eager to come back to Turin but eventually accepted a different destination once the Bianconeri gave up the chase.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Old Lady’s best offer amounted to a €10M initial fee with a €45/50M option to buy. The counterparty insisted on an obligation, or at least very easy conditions to trigger it. Moreover, they had a higher valuation.

On Sunday night, PSG proposed to Juventus the same conditions as Tottenham, €5M plus the wages, to have Kolo Muani for 2025/2026. However, the Turin-based team had decided not to take things to the last minute and had already pivoted toward Lois Openda. They didn’t renege on the agreement with RB Leipzig at the last moment. Dusan Vlahovic not leaving contributed to their decision.

The Belgian international joined on a €44M package, €3.3M right away and €40.6M in a year, with the Bianconeri’s preferred formula, a loan with a conditional obligation to buy. Moreover, he earns about half as much as the Tottenham newcomer, €4M annually.

Our Take on Juventus, Kolo Muani, and Openda

The former would have been a better choice without Vlahovic, while the latter makes more sense with their current frontline, as he’s more versatile. Another loan with no future certainties wouldn’t have been great after bickering about the price tag for months. The masterstroke would be to bring the PSG outcast back in a year at more manageable numbers to replace the Serb. Their accountants are surely pleased not to have two massive salaries on their balance sheets simultaneously.
