New Juventus general manager Damien Comolli formally commenced his stay on Wednesday. He had a positive first contact with Igor Tudor, who’ll stay onboard for at least the Club World Cup. The change at the top didn’t modify the decision about Pierre Kalulu, who has been bought out for €14M plus €3M add-ons, Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto report (via SOSFanta).
The revamped Old Lady brass has expanded its search for a new sporting director. The decision might not be imminent. In the meantime, the former Toulouse president will oversee the transfer market along with Giorgio Chiellini and the holdovers, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
While Juventus permanently acquired Pierre Kalulu, Renato Veiga is no longer with the team after his loan spell. They didn’t have an option to buy, and Chelsea’s price tag has always been high. In the same role, Daniele Rugani is back from a loan at Ajax. Gleison Bremer is in the later stages of his rehab from an ACL tear. The Bianconeri will have Francisco Conceiçao in the United States too. They are confident Randal Kolo Muani will stay for at least another month.
Comolli will have to decide whether to finalize two deals that Cristiano Giuntoli worked on. Their previous official had reached an agreement in principle with Jonathan David on a €6M salary plus €2M add-ons and was close to purchasing Florentino from Benfica.
Veiga was a nice surprise, but the fit next to Bremer is dubious. They probably won’t splurge in the back unless they sell Federico Gatti, which they shouldn’t. They are the most logical landing spot for David, but it remains to be seen whether the new execs will prefer strikers with different traits.
