Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has entered the final year of his contract with Al-Hilal. The top Serie A teams are keeping an eye on the situation to see whether he could be interested in heading back to the Peninsula after three seasons in Saudi Arabia, Fabrizio Romano reports (via Tribuna).

The Serb will have a decision to make in the coming months. The Saudi side is keen on keeping him, but it might not offer him the same amount of money they did to lure him to the emerging league in the first place. He’s been making €20M plus €10M potential add-ons.

Milinkovic-Savic has been courted by a few teams since leaving Lazio, but Al-Hilal refused to set a price tag. Juventus kicked the tires while Cristiano Giuntoli was at the helm, and Inter and Milan showed some interest too.

The 30-year-old has tallied 29 goals and 25 assists in 97 games after heading to the Middle East, winning one title. He spent nine campaigns with Lazio before departing for €40M a year before his contract would run out.

Our Take on Milinkovic-Savic

It’d be weird if Al-Hilal let one of the players Simone Inzaghi is most familiar with only 12 months after convincing the coach to take over. It’d have to be his call, as the figures wouldn’t be comparable. He’s not too old for another productive run.

Among the possible destinations, Milan would make the most sense considering the connection with Igli Tare and the fact that Massimiliano Allegri likes to sign sure things. He’d be an easy fit on many sides tactically speaking. However, his level of motivation would have to be assessed.
