Juventus have barged into the race to sign Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia, who’ll be a hot commodity in the summer since his contract is up in 2026, and he doesn’t want to extend it. The Bianconeri jumped in pole position after recently reaching out to his entourage, Gianluca Di Marzio reports (via Tuttomercatoweb).
The Old Lady shortlisted him in case they couldn’t snap up David Hancko as they have long hoped or if they couldn’t strike a deal with Federico Gatti. The 20-year-old has starred indifferently in a four or three-man defense so far and also occasionally as a right-back.
Valencia will inevitably consider cashing in on Mosquera in the summer if he doesn’t change his mind about the renewal, and Juventus and his other suitors will have to shell out €25/30M to get him. He has been frequently linked to Milan, which considered selling one of their four center-backs a few times but haven’t yet.
The Bianconeri could put pedal to the medal in the next few days already to set up the deal well before the summer. He has 77 appearances with Valencia under his belt and has starred five times with Spain U-21.
He’d fit their strategy, but something would have to give to add another piece to their backline. Lloyd Kelly is only technically on loan, while it’ll be hard to retain Renato Veiga. Perhaps the price tag of Hancko has ballooned after his recent Champions League showings, or there could be some surprises at the position, like not keeping Pierre Kalulu or the sale of Gatti or Gleison Bremer for a major sum.
