Juventus have been presented with the chance to sign Marco Verratti by some intermediaries. The Bianconeri are indeed looking for a creative midfielder. However, he’s been playing in the Middle East with a very lucrative salary since 2023, TuttoSport informs.
The Bianconeri didn’t outright reject the proposition but are only lukewarm on it. The officials are starting to sketch out the plans for January along with Luciano Spalletti. Signing a proper regista is on their agenda.
Verratti is a childhood fan of Juventus and almost joined them back in the day when he broke out at Pescara in Serie B. PSG beat the Old Lady to the punch. The midfielder went on to have a long and successful spell in the French capital before leaving Europe for Qatar, where he has spent time at Al-Arabi and Al-Duhail.
His contract expires at the end of the season, but he could rescind it early if a good opportunity from Europe popped up. On the other hand, he makes €30M currently, so his demands would be the main sticking point of the negotiation if the Bianconeri were interested. He has 55 caps with Italy but hasn’t been called up in over two years.
He’s not too old, but it’s tough to find the right motivations to come back and perform adequately after going to certain leagues. Plus, he was never the most trustworthy guy from a physical standpoint. His request would have to be really modest and there would had to be a real scarcity of options for them even to consider him, even though they could use that kind of contributor at the position.
