Manchester City could face interest from a number of prominent clubs across the European landscape for highly-successful defender, Nathan Ake.
The Dutch international signed for City late in the summer transfer window of 2020 from AFC Bournemouth for a £41 million fee, and has since proved to be worth every penny during his incredible tenure at the club thus far.
The 30-year-old versatile central defender has deputised for the Sky Blues a total of 153 times, winning an impressive 102 of these matches, drawing 25 and losing just 26 in over a century of appearances under Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City’s No.6 has enjoyed an illustrious six terms in Manchester to this point, winning an astonishing 10 major trophies, including most notably the history-defining treble-winning campaign – during which the former Chelsea man was crucial.
Now, due to the sheer quality of City’s defensive roster, Nathan Ake has found regular minutes hard to come by, struggling to displace any of the current star-studded starters, unsurprisingly sparking interest among other clubs across Europe.
Despite a lack of opportunities, Ake remains a highly-regarded talent and has already attracted interest leading up to the upcoming winter transfer window. TuttoJuve claims Juventus are among the list of potential suitors.
The Bianconeri historically are fond of the idea of recruiting from England, with recent examples being Lloyd Kelly from Newcastle United and Renato Veiga from Chelsea, although the latter departed from Turin at the end of last season.
Nathan Ake could follow in those footsteps and become the next defender from the Premier League to join Luciano Spalletti’s side. His invaluable experience as a serial winner alongside his versatility in the backline are factors which make him an attractive asset for those wanting to bolster their defensive unit under challenging competition.
The footballing world is certainly aware of Ake’s quality, and Juventus are not the only club interested in signing the defender should he become available. The Bianconeri could yet face fierce competition from the likes of Inter Milan and Crystal Palace in a potentially intense and complex negotiation.
It remains to be seen just how concrete these links away from the Etihad Stadium are for Nathan Ake, particularly at a time when he will be wanting to take on as much game time as possible to stake a claim for a place in the Netherlands’ FIFA World Cup squad for 2026.
