The countdown has begun. Inter are preparing for their important away trip to Juventus on matchday 25, at 20:45 CET on Sunday 16 February. The Nerazzurri head to Turin, second in the table on 54 points, one point off of league leaders Napoli. The reverse fixture earlier this year was a 4-4 cracker. Zielinski grabbed a brace and both Mkhitaryan and Dumfires found the back of the net.
This is Inter’s 184th fixture against Juventus in Serie A. The Nerazzurri have won 49 games while the Bianconeri have 87 wins, with 47 matches ending in a draw. Inter are unbeaten in their last three matches against Juventus in the league. This is the sixth time in Serie A history that Inter will play Juventus sitting over ten points ahead of them in the table.
With 58 goals scored, Inter has the best attack in the league after 24 matches and they also have the highest number of different goalscorers (17). Not only are the Nerazzurri great in their build-up play, but they also have the best set-piece record in the league (17 goals).
Simone Inzaghi’s standout season can be highlighted by one key stat: Inter Milan are the only team among the top 5 clubs to stay unbeaten in head-to-head games this season. Additionally, they have the highest average points per game (2.0) in these matches compared to the other top 5 teams.
Juventus, who have been managed by Thiago Motta since the start of the season, are currently in 5th on 43 points with ten wins, 13 draws and one loss. The Bianconeri have scored 41 goals, conceding 21. They have played five matches in the last month, winning three, drawing one and losing one. Two of their wins came at home, beating AC Milan 2-0 and Empoli 4-1, and they also won on the road at Como. Their 1-1 draw came away at Atalanta while they lost away at Napoli who finished the game 2-1 winners. On the other hand, in Europe, this past Tuesday, Motta’s side won the opening leg of their play-off against PSV 2-1 at home. They will play the second-leg in Eindhoven on Wednesday 19 February. The Bianconeri usually line up as a 4-2-3-1 with Locatelli and Thuram as the midfield partnership supporting the forwards Gonzalez, Koopmeiners, Yildiz and their new signing Kolo-Muani. The injured Bremer, Cabal, Milik and Kalulu won’t be available for the match. Cambiaso is still a doubt ahead of the game. Their top scorer is Dusan Vlahovic with eight goals.
It has been a really positive season for Marcus Thuram so far and he is continuing to show his consistent quality. The French forward has scored 13 goals in Serie A this season, matching his tally for last year and also his 2022/23 record for Borussia Mönchengladbach: he has never scored more than 13 goals in any of Europe’s top five leagues in a single campaign. Tikus has recorded one assist in two of his three matches played against Juventus in Serie A: in fact, this is the only side he has assisted against more than once.
Denzel Dumfries and Piotr Zielenski like playing against Juventus. The last Serie A match that Zielenski scored in was against Juventus, and he even scored a brace that day from the penalty-spot. In that game, Dumfries was also really impactful. The Dutch full-back is the highest scoring defender in Serie A since the start of December (4).
