Germany beat the United States on Saturday, and Kai Havertz says they now head to the World Cup with confidence.
“I think we played a good game overall and that we were better in the second half,” Havertz told RTL after the game.
Having linked up late after Arsenal’s Champions League final, he started for Julian Nagelsmann’s side in the friendly. He scored, then set up Leroy Sané’s winner.
“With the ninth win in a row, we’re now going into the first group game with a lot of confidence,” he said.
“Of course, there were phases where we lost a bit of control, but overall we are in good shape and can look forward positively.”
Germany face Curaçao in their World Cup opener next Sunday.
