Arsenal have been handed a timely injury boost ahead of their next game after Eberechi Eze was spotted in training this morning.
The Gunners attacker was withdrawn against Newcastle United at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was sweating on his fitness.
However, Eze is fit and available and is expected to feature when the North London club take on Atletico Madrid in the first-leg of their Champions League semi-final tie on Wednesday.
Kai Havertz was not seen in training after he was also taken off the Magpies and it remains to be seen whether he will be available for the Gunners’ next Premier League game at home against Fulham next Saturday.
Jurrien Timber was also not spotted in the Arsenal opening training session this morning and is unlikely to feature against Atletico.
The Gunners are aiming to play in the final of the Champions League for the first time since 2006, and a win in Spain tomorrow will be huge ahead of next Tuesday’s return-leg.
Gabriel Martinelli also trained with the squad today after he was spotted holding his hamstring after the game on Saturday.
Riccardo Calafiori is also available to feature against the La Liga club after returning to training this morning.
The Italian played the entire 90 minutes against Sporting CP in the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on April 7, but has not featured for Arsenal since.
The Gunners need everyone available heading into their most important weeks of 2025-26, and Arteta will hope those injured can return sooner rather than later.
The win over Newcastle put them back at the top of the league table but they have played one more game than Manchester City and will need to win their remaining four league games to give themselves a real chance of winning the title.
