Sasa Kalajdzic has been linked with a return to VfB Stuttgart and the Bundesliga after spending more than a year sidelined with a cruciate ligament tear.
Speaking to Kicker, the towering striker said it is currently unclear if he will stay at Wolverhampton for the upcoming season.
"As things stand, I will start pre-season with the Wolves, but a loan is also an option if it suits all parties. I just want to be back on the pitch and playing," he explained.
Kalajdzic spent two and a half years at Stuttgart before joining Wolves in 2022 for a reported €18 million fee, and he remains closely connected to the Swabian club.
“I have often said that VfB is the club closest to my heart. I follow almost every game,” he said.
“VfB is my first great love in football, and it will always be,” Kalajdzic stressed.
The tall striker did return to the Bundesliga for six months in January 2024, but not to Stuttgart – instead, he went on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt. He would consider a fresh return to Germany, but only if it's the right fit.
“I know the Bundesliga, and it knows me, so that would already fit. And I would never close a door – but that applies generally, not just to VfB. VfB have three strikers, and all three performed well last season,” Kalajdzic said.
“A loan must always make sense. In football, it’s rare that someone is brought in just because of a great past or love for the club. Everything has to fit.”
