Kerolin Nicoli has stated her desire to become the best player in women’s football during her time at Manchester City.
The decorated Brazil international has become the Club’s latest January acquisition, signing a contract that will keep her at the Joie Stadium until 2028.
She joins up with Gareth Taylor’s side following a hugely successful spell in the US where she was named the NWSL Most Valuable Player in 2023 after helping North Carolina Courage retain the Challenge Cup.
Now in England, she has detailed the reasons why City was the best fit for her and how she’s looking to transform her game with the Blues domestically and on the continent.
“I think there were a lot of reasons why I chose City and one of those was to play in the Champions League,” she explained.
“Also I want to try to become the best player in the world and I know here I can be better at soccer and also learn how to play in England and be the best player in the world.
“It is amazing [to be here]. When I look to other countries and the tournament is hard, but when I look to England everyone says this is the best place to be.
“To have more of a vision of the world, England is the best and to play in the Champions League is going to help so much.”
Ahead of completing her move to City, Kerolin was in attendance for Taylor’s team’s latest outing at the Etihad Stadium where more than 22,000 attended the meeting with Manchester United.
Although we were edged our 4-2 in an end-to-end affair by Marc Skinner’s side, our latest recruit was impressed by the quality on show during the Barclays Women’s Super League clash.
And the Brazil international says she’s inspired to help the Blues reach new heights after her arrival at the Club.
She added: “When I was viewing the warm-up at the derby I was thinking this is crazy because I was looking at the players who were starting.
“On the field, I was just looking at normally, playing in the Champions League and now also playing against them and they were so good.
“I was like I couldn’t believe this is happening in my life and I just need to be grateful and ready to play with them and do history with this big club.”
