Manchester City may have a fresh injury concern to contend with ahead of their showdown with Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

The latest development from within the Manchester City camp comes after Nathan Ake sustained a long-term muscular problem during the most-recent international break, replaced during the Netherlands’ 2-2 draw with Germany in UEFA Nations League action.

The Dutchman is not expected to partake in any of Manchester City’s upcoming fixtures across all competitions, as Pep Guardiola pencilled in the October international break as a potential return date for the 29-year-old.

Ake’s injury adds to Oscar Bobb’s long-term problem, with the Norwegian forward sustaining a fractured bone in his leg ahead of the Premier League’s opening game between Chelsea and Manchester City.

Now, Pep Guardiola has been left with a new major concern ahead of the opening showdown between Manchester City and Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, as Kevin De Bruyne left the action against Inter in the UEFA Champions League with a suspected groin problem.

The 33-year-old briefly received medical attention at the end of the first-half against the Italian club, remaining on the pitch for the final few seconds before being replaced by Phil Foden in the centre of the park for the second-half.

Guardiola is expected to provide an update on De Bruyne’s injury concern following Manchester City’s meeting with Inter at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, before also facing the media during a pre-Arsenal press conference on Friday afternoon.
