MLS Clubs Unbeaten in Week Three

MLS teams enjoyed a near to perfect week, going unbeaten with four wins and two draws in the third week of the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup.  

Nashville SC, Los Angeles FC, Philadelphia Union, and FC Cincinnati earned victories, while Vancouver Whitecaps FC and LA Galaxy earned away draws in their Round One first leg encounters.

Star Debutants  

The third week of competition presented three stellar debutants: Son Heung-Min and Thomas Müller played the first Champions Cup match of their careers, while Marco Reus made his first appearance in the 2026 edition after participating in the 2025 edition.

Son presented himself in style with four goal contributions, as the South Korean tallied a goal and three assists. Müller and Reus entered as second-half substitutes in their respective encounters. 

Second Champions Cup Hat-Trick for Denis Bouanga  

Denis Bouanga was clinical with three goals in LAFC’s 6-1 win over Real CD España in Honduras. The occasion marked the second time the Gabonese attacker bagged a hat-trick in the Champions Cup, after previously netting three in the 3-nil win over LD Alajuelense in the Round of 16 in 2023.  

Sporting San Miguelito and LA Galaxy Deliver Thriller in Epic Match of the Week 

The Epic Match of the Week presented a thrilling battle between Sporting San Miguelito and LA Galaxy in Penonomé, Panama. The two played to a 1-1 draw in front of the lively crowd at Estadio Universitario. Rodrigo Tello placed the hosts in the lead with a towering header in the first half. Joseph Paintsil struck the equalizer for the Galaxy in the second half.
